Abstract:
Our work focuses on soil fertility management in the oasis agrosystem in the
northern Algerian Sahara, through a review of the work carried out on the one hand
and on the other hand the realization of our own field survey covering 21 farms
(old and new) in the region of El Menia. The first results show that soil fertility is
one of the priorities for the majority of oasis farmers, after water resources and
labor. The results also reveal that there are sometimes significant differences
between the farmers surveyed regarding the interest in fertilizing their soils and the
level of its mastery. Also, some positive aspects were recorded (notably crop
rotation, use of organic matter) and other negative ones (method and duration of
Résumés
preparation of organic matter, random doses). At the end of our analysis, we
suggest some recommendations for good management of oasis soils in our study
region.
