Abstract:
The study aimed to identify the reflections of social networking sites on the cultural 
awareness of university students, as an important category in society with its intellectual 
characteristics that distinguish it from other categories, and as a category on which hopes are 
pinned to participate in the development and building of the future of any society. 
       The study relied on the descriptive approach, and the questionnaire tool was applied to a 
purposive sample of students of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Ghardaia 
University, consisting of 390 students (researched( 
      The study concluded that there is a relationship between the use of social networking sites 
and the reshaping of the community culture of university students, through the formation of 
some new behavioral patterns that formed the concept of virtual society, and provided a 
window through which to view the cultures of other peoples, while contributing to the 
preservation of customs and traditions, and the self-development of some students. The results 
also showed the relationship between the level of interaction via social networking sites and 
the establishment of ethics of rational discussion. The results of the study also confirmed that 
social networking sites constitute a public space that works to mobilize public opinion, and 
thus encourage individuals to practice active citizenship through participation in community 
issues.
