Abstract:
This study evaluates the epidemiological profile of dialysis patients at TIRICHINE Brahim
Hospital in Ghardaia over seven years (2017-2023). Among 843 cases, 61% are men and 38% are
women. Patients aged over 58 years represent 29% of those on dialysis, while young adults (19-28
years) make up 15%. An increase in hemodialysis sessions is observed among patients over 58 years
old. The main underlying conditions include diabetic nephropathy (15%) and hypertension (19%),
with a notable prevalence of hyperparathyroidism and anemia. Mortality and transplant rates remain
low, highlighting ongoing challenges. Hemodialysis is used in 96% of patients, and the study
underscores the necessity of a national registry to improve the management of end-stage chronic
renal failure in Ghardaia
