Abstract:
Pragmatics has gained great attention and has become a fertile ground for raising key issues related to human communication. Its topics have multiplied and allowed for intersections between diverse fields of knowledge, making it a meeting place for these sciences. Among the most important issues it has addressed are speech acts, argumentation, speaker intentions, conversational implicature, and soon. Pragmatic analysis focuses on analyzing the speech act uttered by the speaker at its direct and indirect levels, and understanding the speaker's intentions, by determining the context and setting of the discourse, which is revealed by various clues. So, what are the mechanisms that contribute to the perception of the intention of the Prophet (peace be upon him) through his discourse?
From here, this study was titled: "Pragmatic Intention in Prophetic Discourse, Sahih al-Bukhari as a Model" within the topic of "Intentionality", which seeks to transcend the limits of discourse by understanding the relationship between the speaker and the addressee to reveal the intentions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) through the analysis of models of his Hadiths in Sahih al-Bukhari. This is done by exploiting the theory of speech acts by Austin, Searle, and Grice, especially what relates to the informative intention and the communicative intention, and various linguistic means, in addition to non-linguistic means, the role of context, the two sides of the discourse and their characteristics, and the level of the discourse in all of these intentions, whether they relate to the preservation of the five universals or the intentions resulting from that.
