Abstract

Our study aims to highlight the role of the Department of the Environment of Ghardaïa in the preservation of the Saharan environment and to present its roles that settlement in our society in general and the local community in particular (Ghardaïa) neglect. It was created pursuant to the provisions of Article 3 of Executive Decree No. 96-60 of Ramadan 7, corresponding to January 1996, which includes the organization of the environmental departments of the wilayats. When management includes four departments: the first department is the administration and interest of the means, the second department for the organization, authorization, awareness, media and environmental education, the third department of the urban and industrial environment, and the fourth and last service is the service of the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. Our study shows that the direction of the environment of the wilayat of Ghardaïa has a very effective role in the protection of the Saharan environment, because it contributes to the preservation of the natural components of the environment through the achievements that it has carried out. It has also contributed to the promotion of cultural heritage by disseminating environmental culture through awareness campaigns, reforestation with civil society. rural development. We also noted that the Management contributes to raising the scientific level of the members of the management at different levels by organizing study days and scientific outings for the benefit of the students, in addition to its participation in various national and international events. At the end of our research, we concluded that the Department of the Environment of the wilayat of Ghardaïa has an important and significant role in the protection of the desert environment, but it suffers from some shortcomings, which have been suggested.
