Abstract:
Our study is entitled "The environmental education and its influence on school children" (studying the case of Ghardaïa middles schools). The latter aims at evaluating the pupils’ and teachers’ environmental knowledge in the middle school stage. Our research was carried in two middle schools. The first one is the Scientific Zone (Bounoura) and the second one is Chenini Ahmed Ben Boubakar (Metlili Chaaniba).
To check the suggested hypotheses, we have divided our study into two stages the first is gathering information about the environmental education and its relation to school children focusing on the middle phase. After selecting the two middle schools we chose our informants, pupils and teachers using a form as a tool to collect data in addition to observation and processing information. We were able to analyse the findings which state that environmental education is a curriculum that is taught to pupils in which all the teachers and the pedagogical staff contribute without neglecting the educational programmes. It is reflected in learners’ behaviors. That is why we suggested emphasizing the environmental education as a necessity in our schools. Also, it should be included as a subject by itself to make the specialized teachers teach it as an independent module rather than being included with the other subjects. In this way we ensure spreading environmental awareness among pupils. Besides, we guarantee giving scientific knowledge regardless to complying with the programme accomplishment and time allocation
