This work focuses on the study of phytosanitary problems related to field crops in the
region of El Ménéa. The objective of our work is to identify the problems that harm field crops,
how farmers deal with them and the control methods applied. We conducted surveys on a
sample of representative farms in the region and tried to identify existing phytosanitary
problems, including pests, diseases and weeds. The results of our investigations indicate the
presence of aphids (Rhopalosiphum padi), plant bugs (Aelia germari) and sparrows (Passer
domesticus x P.hispaniolensis), as pests linked to field crops. Regarding diseases, our surveys
show that farmers suffer from fusarium (Fusarium spp) and septoria (Mycosphaerella
graminicola). Finally, for weeds, we recorded the presence of bromegrass (Bromus rigidus),
ryegrass (Lolium miltiforum lam) and wild oats (Avena sterilis). Most farmers use the
preventive method and the chemical method to combat these problems.
