The aim of our study is to use plant extracts as bio fungicides on Mauginiella scaettae causal agent
of the date palm inflorescences rot . The antifungal activity of these extracts is tested by the micro-
dilution method in a solid environment in order to calculate the antifungal index. The extraction
method allowed us to obtain a return, the highest of which is that of Pomegranate peelers (1.66%)
followed by Lantana camara (0.065%) then the lowest castor (0.043). The results of the antifungal
activity show that the methanolic extracts of the three plants have a biological control potential of
M. scaettae. The effectiveness of each methanolic extract is tested for different concentrations (5%,
10%, 20%, 50%, 100%) and estimated by the growth inhibition rate of the fungus. For the extract of
Ricinus communis, the best inhibition rates are observed for the concentrations of 50% and 100%
with respective values of 72% and 82% inhibition the Lantana camara extract has a strong
inhibitory effect ( 75%) for the 100% concentration. Pomegranate peeler extract has good inhibitory
effects at 50% and 10% concentrations with inhibition rates of 72% and 82% respectively. The
result with which we concluded in this work is that extracts of Punica granatum show a good
fungistatic effect against M.scaettae fungi compared to the two extracts Lantana camara and
Ricinus communis.
