Abstract:
The aim of our study was to determine the antibacterial and antifungal power of the aqueous
extract of Eucalyptus globulus L. The extracting of the aerial part of Eucalyptus globulus L was
done by the method of reflux extraction.
The antimicrobial activity test in four bacterial strains (Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli,
Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis) and four fungal strains (Aspergillus fluvus, Aspergillus
Niger, Fusarium culmorum, Candida albicans) the results show that the aqueous extract of
Eucalyptus globulus L has a moderate antibacterial activity with inhibition diameters between 33.5
and 8.5 mm in comparison with antifungal activity that achieve an inhibition diameter of about 30.8
mm and 10 mm with a sensitivity to low concentrations of our extract. In the opposite Aspergillus
Niger is resistant against concentrations of 100% and in all other dilutions.
