The beginning of the 16th century AD knew the emergence of two clashing world powers, the Ottoman Empire that lifted the banner of Islam and the Catholic Spanish Empire that emerged after the political marriage between Ferdinand and the Queen of Castile Isabella in 1468 AD, when the two kings raised the brigade of the so-called Restoration Wars and the fight against Islam and Muslims, and with the fall of Granada, the last Muslim stronghold in Spain in 1492 AD Spain revived the spirit of colonialism and turned its eyes towards the Maghreb region, and due to its weakness and the political mosaic taking place in it, it granted and created the opportunity for Spain to achieve its goals and colonial projects, and the coasts of Algeria were among its goals and it was able to occupy its most important ports such as Al-Marsa Al-Kabir in 1505 AD, Hran 1509 AD, Bejaia 1510 AD. With the emergence of the Barbaros brothers on the international scene, the balance of power changed in the region of the western basin of the Mediterranean Sea, as the Barbaros brothers began their jihad actions from Tunisian lands after they were able to conquer the city of Jijel, they made it a base for launching their jihadist military campaigns defending and saving the weak Muslims, especially the Moriscos fleeing persecution in Spain, and with the accession of Algeria under the banner of the Ottoman Empire, the course of Algeria’s history changed and it gained an international status and is the master of the Mediterranean, and this is thanks to the efforts of Khair El Din Barbaros, who was able to complete what his brother Arouj had started, laying the foundations of Ottoman rule in the region, and responding with all strength and courage to the Christian Crusades over Algeria and during this period, the star of Khair al-Din Barbaros shone in the western basin of the Mediterranean Sea, and a thousand accounts were counted for him, so Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent summoned him to benefit from his jihad services in the fight against the Crusaders and took command of the great Ottoman fleet, and was able to achieve many great victories due to his military competence and field experience In the field of naval jihad, and he concluded his march full of great victories for the Islamic force, realizing the significance of the Islamic jihad against the Christians, may God have mercy on him.
