The aim of this work is to study the adsorption of cationic dyes; methylene blue (BM) and
malachite green (VM) onto palm date pedicels (PDB) and the modified adsorbent by H 2 SO 4 (PDA).
The adsorption equilibrium was reached after 110 minutes of contact time. The adsorption kinetics of BM
and VM were studied using the pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order models and the intraparticle
diffusion model. The adsorption kinetics of BM and VM dyes on PDB and PDA has been well described
by the pseudo-second order model. The experimental results of our adsorption isotherm were fitted using
the Langmuir and Freundlich models. The data were well fitted by Langmuir model. The maximum
adsorption capacity of BM was 7.3 and 13.6 mg / g for PDB and PDA, respectively; while it was 8.5 and
11.6 mg / g for VM adsorption by PDB and PDA, respectively. Furthermore, the experimental results
have shown that the BM adsorption process was exothermic, while the VM adsorption process was
endothermic. Finally, the adsorption rate of BM and VM dyes increases using chitosan membranes
