Abstract

This research touched on the economic and cultural role played by the city and two men during the Rustamian era, as one of the most important centers of Saharan commerce. It includes the origin of the city and the factors that helped develop it by tracing its history in the Middle Age. Convoys of commerce for City of Ouarjilan traveled deep in the desert from different directions to reach the most important commercial centers in Morocco and Sudan, such as Ghadames, Gatt, Tafilalt, Fez, Gao, Tanbuktu, Agadas, and Katchina, carrying some products that are sold or exchanged for those centers. This, along with this, led to the interest of residents and men in digging wells in the various routes of commercial convoys, which created an attractive area for the residents. Many tribes settled there, including the Abidin the various areas where water wells abound, which reflected on agricultural activity significantly and contributed to raising the pace of internal and external trade. Among the religious scholars is Mohammed Bin Bakr Al- Farsati, who moved between regions, City of Ouarjilan, a guide, and a teacher, inciting a new movement in religion and thought through a new system called the Circle of azaba, which is considered the engine of the first spark, the revival of the scientific movement in Ouargla by activating and developing

the educational movement, and improving the intellectual level of members of the Ibadi community. This City of Ouarjilan deserve the title of the second present for Abidites in the Middle Maghreb after the fall of Tihirt.
