Reforming the prisoner during his stay in the penal institution and
rehabilitating him until after his release in order to reintegrate him into
society is one of the greatest tasks of states. According to many
scientific studies, the criminal keeps away from deviation the more
regular he is in the scientific and professional qualification.
Islam is keen on the reform of the sinner, including the prisoner, and
although imprisonment is not an original and advanced method in
Islamic jurisprudence, the rehabilitation of the prisoner is undoubtedly
one of the purposes of Sharia because it protects the individual and
society from crime that threatens the soul, money and honor.
The Algerian law has taken care of the prisoner’s reformation and
rehabilitation through a set of laws, the most important of which is Law
04/05, which includes the Law on the Organization of Prisons and
Social Reintegration of Prisoners and its complementary texts. |
