dc.description.abstractThis paper aims to highlight the motives behind the escalation of marine jihadist operations in the Mediterranean basin during the 16th century, and to provide the regency of Algiers with the unlimited material and human aid of the Andalusian Moors in their 'revolutions' against the Spanish, as well as the efforts of Khaireddine and Alj Ali in Tunisia to thwart Spain's plan to occupy it. The Ottoman fleet, led by Sinan Pasha, intervened, which was able to expel the Spanish permanently from Tunisia, which was annexed to the Ottoman Empire in 1574. This paper concluded that the cooperation in the maritime activity that existed between the Algerian fleet and the Ottoman fleet in the face of the Christian alliance, in order to protect the region of the Countries of the Maghreb from the European crusades that targeted it.EN_en
