The agroecosystems of arid and semi-arid environments in North Africa are semi-natural ecosystems that act as oases in the heart of the desert. They serve as migratory stopovers and breeding sites for many migratory birds. This study focuses on the diversity and abundance of bird species in the Guerrara region, within the Ghardaïa province. The point count method was used to collect the data. Data analysis was conducted using the Shannon-Weaver diversity index, ANOVA test, and correspondence analysis (CA). A total of 17 bird species, belonging to 4 orders and 14 families, were identified. Columbidae was the most represented family, with 4 species. Agricultural habitats exhibited the highest diversity (H' = 1.7) in November, while the lowest species diversity (H' = 1.3) was recorded in October. The ANOVA test revealed no significant effect of the number of strata on the total bird abundance and species richness.EN_en
