The study of the aquatic bird life of the Sebkhet El-Maleh (El-Goléa) required the realization of regular counts during the wintering session (2018/2019), from October 10, 2018 to March 31, 2019, setting the point on the evolution of annual numbers, has shown that the lake is frequented by 24 bird species, belonging to 11 families. The most represented family is the Anatidae. These birds occupied the water body according to their basic and specific requirements. The main concentrations of Anatidae remain the same as those occupied by other waterbirds (Fulk and Grebe), which are at the center of Lake Superior's water body, where they show small aggregations. The Ardeidae are usually found on the shores of Lake Superior far from any disturbance, near herbaceous plants. The wetland plays a dual role for this waterfowl as a potential wintering site for a many species. Important for the national and international scale, the ferruginous duck (Aythya nyroca), the shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea), the white stilt (Himantopus himantopus), the pink flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) and the Marbled Teal (Marmaronetta angustirostris). The presence of a rather significant species richness of waterbirds, highlights its ornithological and ecological value and determines, in fact, its role in relation to the important stages of their cycles namely migration and reproduction.EN_en
