Abstract

The present study aims at knowing the level of self-efficacy and the type of coping strategies adopted by breast amputee women. In order to verify the objectives of our study we have used a set of tools: The semi-directed interview, The self-efficacy scale and the Arabicized version of Samer Jamil Radwan (the scale of coping strategies for Lazarus and Folkman). The research group contained four cases of breast amputees as a result of being diagnosed with cancer. Their ages range between (33-50) years old and who are undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Ghardaia public hospital "Tarshin Ibrahim". Therefore, this study would try to answer the following question:  What is the level of self-efficacy of breast amputee women?  What kind of coping strategies are prevalent used with breast amputee women?  Do breast amputee women with low-efficiency use emotion centered coping strategies? The obtained results according to the case study approach through the measures applied to the cases, after presenting, discussing these results in light of the assumptions and previous studies we have concluded that:  The level of self-efficacy of breast amputee women ranges from medium to high.  Detecting that the amputee is more likely to use emotion-centered coping strategies.
