Abstract

In our study, we focused on the issue of journalism ethics in light of modern communication technologies, where we conducted a case study on the journalist reporter for the "Numidia News" channel from the state of Ghardaia, to know the extent of the Algerian reporter's commitment to journalism ethics and the extent to which he employs modern means of communication. The scientific represented by the case study and the ethnographic approach belong to qualitative research, and we have posted the following problem: What is the extent of the reporter’s commitment in closed areas to the ethics of the journalistic profession in light of the tyranny of using social networking sites? We aim through this study to shed light on the challenges faced by the ethics of journalism in Algeria following the technological development resulting from the emergence of the Internet and the information dumping caused by what imposed a new environment on the communicator and whether the reporter relies on it as a source of information or not, we also aim through this The study analyzes the stages that the media in Algeria has gone through in keeping pace with the development in the field of journalism. The most prominent findings of this study: the absence of actual controls for Numedia News channel regarding the journalist’s use of social networking sites, and that the editorial policies of the channels are a factor in the journalist’s access to these sites due to the pressures he is exposed to that limit his freedom, although these editorial policies conflict with the media law, as well. We concluded that technological development is not a reason for not adhering to professional ethics as much as subjective and professional standards are the main factor in the extent of the commitment of the person in contact with these ethics.
