Abstract: Hamdan bin Othman Khodja is considered one of the most prominent political activists who lived through the French occupation. He belongs to the Karaghla category and from a scientific environment that contributed to refining his personality. He had many books, including The Mirror, which served as a mirror reflecting the conditions experienced by Algeria on the eve of the French occupation. Hamdan Khodja was famous for traveling since childhood, whether to seek knowledge or for thepurpose of trade. He is considered an eyewitness to the fall of the city of Algiers, the Battle of Stawali and the signing of the Dey Hussein of the surrender treaty. His ideas to fight him politically, and the same ideas brought him together with Ahmed Bey and Ibn al-Annabi, and he had a friendly relationship with them before and after colonialism, but he was against Bouardba’s ideas. After the French occupation of Algeria, Hamdan bin Othman Khodja considered himself a mediator to represent the Algerians and defend their rights. He played a major role in raising the Algerian case and forming the African Committee to look into the conditions of the Algerians and the oppression imposed on them by the occupation authority. Othman Khodja also worked to reform the situation at that time.
